The Board of Directors manages the affairs of the South Riding Proprietary (South Riding's Homeowners Association), and is composed of nine members, six elected by the residents, and three appointed by the Declarant. The Board is the executive organ of the Association and as such has certain powers and duties necessary to ensure that the day-to-day responsibilities of the Association are carried out.
These powers and duties are outlined in the Governing Documents and include, but are not limited to, developing the annual budget and setting assessments, promulgating and enforcing rules and regulations, administering the architectural scheme of the community and regulating exterior appearance of the homes (through a duly appointed Covenants Committee), and providing for the necessary personnel and contractual services to maintain all commonly owned property and facilities.

Board of Directors meetings are held monthly at the South Riding Center located at 42420 Unicorn Drive. Meetings are scheduled for the first Thursday of each month but occasionally scheduling conflicts require the Board to change its regularly scheduled monthly meeting date; be sure to check the website calendar.
At 6:00 p.m. the Board convenes into Executive Session until approximately 6:55 p.m. The Open Session portion of the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. with a resident comment period that typically lasts for 15-20 minutes. Directly following the comment period, residents are invited to remain and observe as the Board undertakes the business portion of the meeting. A copy of the Open Session packet may be requested five business days prior to the meeting by contacting Town Hall at 703-327-4390 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
