Recreation and Grounds Committee
The May 9, 2011 meeting of the Recreation and Grounds Committee, held at South Riding Center was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by, Charlene Jones, Committee Chair.
Members Attending: Charlene Jones, Ken Walsh, Marge Morales, Mark Henderson, and Luis Pitarque
Board Liaison: Jeff Salmon arrived at 8:15p.m.
Staff Attending: Dani Junkes, Elaine Stoner.
Guests Attending: Saurabh Mittal (resident)
Guest via Phone in: None
Members/Guests Absent: Todd McFarland, Donna Mines and Steven Sebestyen.
Resident Comments: Saurabh Mittal commented on the Tennis Pro court use. Stated that he thought the Pro was getting more court use than the agreement. Staff will look into the concern.
Approval of the Minutes: Ken Walsh moved to approve the April 2011 Recreation & Grounds Committee Minutes as submitted. The motion was seconded by Marge Morales. The motion passed unanimously.
Dave Smith and Kevin Turner were voted in as Board Members for a three year term at the Annual Meeting where Quorum was met.

Update on Fishing Pier - Staff is working on getting an architectural designer to design an appropriate pier.
Meadows Pool Expansion - Completed
Pool Shading- All the requested shading at the pools for 2011 has been delivered.
Dog Park at Elk Lick North
Dog Park zoning – The county is working to modify County Code 612.13 as to allow Dogs “off leash” within Loudoun County. Jeff Salmon spoke with Mr. Miller about the amendment to the Dog Leash Ordinance. At this time it looks as though a fenced in area open to dogs should not be a problem, but will take some time since there is a process.
Meeting adjourned: Ken Walsh moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:30p.m. The motion was seconded by Mark Henderson. The motion passed unanimously.
