In recognition of the serious effects of Lyme disease, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has declared 2012 as Lyme Disease Awareness Year.
The Board adopted a resolution and proclamation in which the Board “commits to mitigating the devastating effects of Lyme disease on the citizens of Loudoun.” The Board also voted to send a ten-point action plan, which will include a community education and outreach effort, to the Finance, Government Services and Operations Committee for review.
Visit the county’s Lyme disease web page –www.loudoun.gov/lyme . The county will solicit bids to apply insecticides at some county-owned parks. Please note that SRP does not spray Proprietary owned parks, Common Areas and open spaces for ticks.
